Headquartered in Viana do Castelo, the Luís Coutinho Ramos – Arquitectura studio is composed of a team that seeks to ally design to the needs of contemporary society, respecting the dynamics of spaces, uses and materials and that values the balance between the response to a specific program and the architectural conception focused on the fundamental principles of scale, function and integration with the place.

What is the concept that gave birth to the RIVERSide project?

The concept on which the design of the entire urban complex of the three lots is based arises from the combination of two essential factors: the proximity to the river and the location in a green area. We propose a set of buildings that become an extension of the environment where they are located, integrating the green of the park with the living space and connecting the experience inside the building with the urban context.

When conceptually designing the building, what was the biggest challenge?

Based on a pre-defined implantation, the biggest challenge was the organization and distribution of the fractions in order to guarantee that none would be harmed in terms of its visual relationship with the park and the river, the solar exposure and the privacy between fractions and between lots. The size of lot 12 and its implantation parallel to the river determined the existence of one of the largest façade plans facing north. Considering this constraint, all the interior organization of the fractions was designed avoiding the exclusive north orientation.

In partnership with Engel & Völkers and JOP – Jaguar and Land Rover, Imolimit organized an event where they showed all the interior details of the Nascente and Poente buildings and gave the opportunity to test the latest Jaguar and Land Rover models. The Experience Day, held on November 16th, took place in the Nascente building where a “magusto” (chestnut roast) was held with the best view of the city of Porto in the background, to show what is the first project realized by Imolimit.
